Suspects Sought In Alleged Attack Of High School Girl

Girl’s car fingerprinted

An alleged attack on a Hart High student that took place Thursday night is being investigated by the Sheriff’s department.

According to Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, at around 5:00pm Thursday evening, a Hart High student was leaving campus. After driving out of the parking lot, she apparently realized that she left her backpack on the roof of her car. The girl then stopped her car outside of the school campus, near the intersection of Kansas St and Oak.

When she walked down the street to retrieve her backpack, she alleges that a male Hispanic pushed her against the back of her car. She then was able to fight him off and get back into her car, at which point he reportedly tried to grab her through the window.

The girl was able to drive away, and was not injured.

As soon as Hart school officials found out, Principal Collyn Nielsen sent out a message to Hart parents informing them of the incident. A request by Superintendent Jaime Castellanos led to another message asking parents to try and arrange for their children to not walk home after late activity on school campus. Hart District spokeswoman Pat Willet told KHTS that messages were also relayed to faculty at both Placerita Jr. High and the Newhall School District.

Deputies have tried to pull fingerprints off of the girl’s car and they were in the neighborhood on Friday looking for suspects.
