The City of Santa Clarita invites community members to welcome the New Year with a splash at the 4th annual Glacier Slide Polar Bear Swim, which will be held at 9 a.m. on January 1, 2010 at the City’s Aquatic Center Waterslide Pool. For $3, guests can take the plunge into the icy pool, enjoy refreshments, and take home a limited edition Polar Bear Club souvenir.
Aquatic Center doors will open at 8:30 a.m. with the Glacier Slide Polar Bear Swim commencing at 9 a.m. Coffee, hot chocolate, donuts and heaters will be provided to warm participants up after the plunge. Spectators are welcome.
“The Glacier Slide Polar Bear Swim promises a memorable experience for the entire family,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “I encourage community members to come out for the event and ring in 2010 with this new Santa Clarita tradition.”
The Aquatic Center Waterslide Pool will not be open for recreational swimming on January 1 and will close immediately following the Polar Bear Swim.The City’s Sports Complex Aquatic Center is located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway.
