Record turnout for annual palate-pleasing fair.
Attendance was at an all-time high Sunday at the 20th annual Taste of the Town benefit for the Child and Family Center. Founation President Lois Bauccio said that she was thrilled with the event’s success and said although they were still counting the proceeds, they had gone “well over $100 thousand” for the family charity.
More than 40 restaurants, microbreweries, wine purveyors and caterers participated in the event, which was held at the Mann Biomedical Complex in Rye Canyon. Serving items to please every palate, from spicy tandoori to down-home Philly steaks and delectable dessert items, washed down with a bounty of local brews and wines, the event seemed to please the record-breaking crowd.
Entertainment came from pianist and Center board member Mark LeVang and Friends; LeVang has played with a long list of notable artists such as Prince and Natalie Cole. Cooking demonstrations featuring some of the dishes being served were conducted on a small stage in the shade, the chefs playing to standing-room-only audiences.
The Child and Family Center serves Santa Clarita provides mental health, behavioral and educational services to children, adults and their families.
