Tea Lights Recalled For Melting Hazard

khts_recallsSome tea candles marketed under the name of Chesapeake Bay and Modern Light have been recalled because of a possible hazard when burning the candles.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product.

Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Tea Lights

Units: About 615,195 sets (about 7.48 million candles)

Importer: Pacific Trade International Inc. of Rockville, Md.

Hazard: The candles have a clear, plastic cup that can melt or ignite, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: Pacific Trade has received one report of the plastic cup melting while in use. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

Description: The recall involves tea lights sold under the brand names Chesapeake Bay Candle and Modern Light. The candles are various colors. They were sold in sets or with tea light containers. Tea lights from the below sets are involved with this recall. Only tea lights that do not have any lettering imprinted on the bottom of the tea light cup are included in this recall.

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the candles and return them to the store where purchased for a store merchandise card equal to the purchase price.
