Sgt. Ron Price of the Santa Clarita Valley station said that patrols have been stepped up around schools in light of the alleged attack.

The girl was walking along Shadow Pines near Begonias Lane around 4:15 p.m. and had just passed the suspect’s vehicle when she was approached from behind by the suspect, a white male, who threw a blanket over her head and dragged her back to the vehicle.

She was sexually assaulted by the man, but managed to escape. The victim told detectives that she looked back toward the vehicle as she ran away and saw a friend of hers fighting with the man.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Santa Clarita Valley station at 255-1121.
