Nine teens raise money to go on mission’s trip in Montana
[view:node_ad=5]On Friday, December 21st you can get some last minute Christmas shopping and gift wrapping done. Nine teens from Blessed Kateri Catholic Church will be in front of Borders ready to wrap some gifts, in order to raise money for their mission trip to Great Falls, Montana.
This June, the teens will pack into van and head towards Great Falls, ready to do service work. Blessed Kateri members and leaders of the trip, Matt Murphy and Sarah Graff say they call their mission “Stir”, because “they intend to stir up some love in Great Falls” Murphy says. He also said that the teens will be doing many fundraisers throughout the next couple of months to defray some of the trip’s cost.
They’ll be doing anything to raise the money, from watching tots to fasting for a day. In this past month, the teens have held 3 babysitting nights, for parents looking to get some Christmas shopping done. Parents would bring their children to Blessed Kateri, where a room was set up specifically for the kids. It was full of toys, puzzles, crafts and snacks. The teens played duck duck goose, checkers and freeze dance with the kids, and by the time their parents came back, they say the kids were tuckered out.
Come May 2008, the teens will be preparing for their “24 Hour Fast”, in which they will get sponsorships for each hour they will go without food.
