Magic Mountain President Jay Thomas could hardly contain his
excitement about the new arrival.

“A
wooden coaster is exactly what Southern California
needs,” Thomas said enthusiastically. “Not only that, but it’s a
family-oriented coaster. We’re excited to bring another family product to the
already phenomenal lineup.”

“It
even has a state-of-the-art sound system integrated right into the coaster,
which is the first time ever for a wooden coaster. It’s definitely going to be
a great experience for everyone” Thomas said, adding that his preschool-aged
son couldn’t wait to ride the coaster with his father.

According
to a press release, the coaster features Millennium Flyer trains that will “zip
through five belly-flopping hills and six high speed banked turns over 2,850
feet of track to create a ride that delivers the acrobatic thrills of a modern
coasters while retaining the nostalgic look and feel of a classic ‘woodie.’” The
coaster will be located in the northwest corner of the park, next to DéjA Vu.

The
$10 million coaster was created and engineered by Great Coasters International
Inc., the same company responsible for the new and improved ‘X2’ coaster that
recently re-opened this summer.

“Terminator:
The Coaster” is scheduled to open around Memorial Day 2009 and will coincide
with the opening of the new Terminator film “Terminator Salvation” which stars Christian
Bale, Sam Worthington, Moon Bloodgood, Bryce Dallas Howard and Helena Bonham
Carter.

Thomas
said that guests in the queue waiting to board the coaster will be integrated
into the whole “Terminator” experience.

“They’ll
be part of the Resistance getting away with the Terminator group,” he said.
