Texaco Country Showdown Seeks Next Jason Aldean Or Martina McBride

The Texaco Country Showdown is looking for the next Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert or Brad Paisley. All three musicians got their start by competing at the Texaco Country Showdown, America’s largest country music talent show, which has gained national prominence in recent years.

Contestants have until Tuesday, June 25, to submit a sample of their music to showdown@hometownstation.com in order to be considered for the first round. Of the submissions, 10 will be chosen to participate in the preliminary competition on Saturday, June 29, at Keyboard Galleria Music Center.

Three finalists will be selected from the preliminary round to perform one song each at the last local competition held at Concerts in the Park on July 13. The winner will then be chosen by three celebrity judges at the event.2012 Texaco Country Showdown winners Poor Man's Poison

KHTS will sponsor the winning band of the Concerts in the Park local competition. Last year KHTS sponsored the band Poor Man’s Poison, who went on to win state and regional competitions qualifying them for the finals in which they won the grand prize. The four-member group will return to headline where it all started at the July 13show at Concerts in the Park.

The winner of the 2013 Concerts in the Park competition will move on to various state and regional competitions with the goal of making it to the 32nd annual Texaco Country Showdown held in Nashville, Tenn. 

The Showdown is an opportunity for rising performers to share their talents in their local areas, with the hopes of gaining national attention by reaching the final competition. Artists have the opportunity to gain excellent experience, respect and recognition as they travel to competitions across the United States.

 Any vocal and/or instrumental  performers or  group of performers of up to seven members that has not performed on a record list of national record charts of Billboard within 18 months are encouraged to enter.

Performers must advance through various state and regional competitions to reach the esteemed, televised National Final. The winner of this yearly competition receives a prize of $100,000 and the title of “Best New Act in Country Music.”

Concerts in the Park are held at Central Park on Bouquet Canyon Road every Saturday at 7:00 p.m. from July 6 to August 24 at no cost.
