Three finalists will be selected from the preliminary round to perform one song each at the last local competition held at Concerts in the Park on July 13. The winner will then be chosen by three celebrity judges at the event.
KHTS will sponsor the winning band of the Concerts in the Park local competition. Last year KHTS sponsored the band Poor Man’s Poison, who went on to win state and regional competitions qualifying them for the finals in which they won the grand prize. The four-member group will return to headline where it all started at the July 13show at Concerts in the Park.
The winner of the 2013 Concerts in the Park competition will move on to various state and regional competitions with the goal of making it to the 32nd annual Texaco Country Showdown held in Nashville, Tenn.
The Showdown is an opportunity for rising performers to share their talents in their local areas, with the hopes of gaining national attention by reaching the final competition. Artists have the opportunity to gain excellent experience, respect and recognition as they travel to competitions across the United States.
