Texting Proves Deputy’s Hunch About Burglary Suspect

Residential burglar techniques range from primitive to sophisticated, but deputies win out in the end.

[view:node_ad=5] Stolen property doesn’t sell too well on Craig’s List, and a Valencia man found out it doesn’t do too well in texts to friends either.

Jay Blehm, 18, is behind bars after he was arrested by deputies responding to a residential burglary on the 24200 block of Kirby Court Tuesday night.

Not only did he match a description given to deputies, he was found to have been involved in two burglaries on Cabrillo Lane where entry was gained by throwing rocks through a window – the same method used on Kirby Court.

Investigators were also able to trace Blehm to text messages received by others describing items he’d allegedly stolen from other houses in Valencia and was trying to sell.

Blehm was spotted on Decoro Drive near McBean Parkway by deputies patrolling the area armed with the suspect’s description.

He was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on felony Burglary charges.  He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail pending future court proceedings.

The investigation is ongoing, Anyone with information regarding this suspect or this case is asked to immediately contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121
