It’s only been a few days since the Big Read kicked off, but it’s already got people reading. Several contests are going on that all center on the Ray Bradbury book Fahrenheit 451.
Full information on the host of programs that the Big Read will be behind can be found at their new website; thebigread-scv.org.
On October 31, 2006, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), in cooperation with Arts Midwest, announced that seventy-two communities throughout the United States were selected to participate in The Big Read. The County of Los Angeles Public Library was among those to be awarded the grant with the event scheduled to take place in the Santa Clarita Valley. Spearheading the event will be Valencia Library, Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library, and the Newhall Library.
