“The Curious Savage” is a light-hearted comedy that follows Ethel Savage, a widow whose husband left her a great deal of money.

“It’s just a really delightful comedy, a lot of fun, and a lot of just different people that warm your heart,” said Andrea Rodriguez, who is playing the lead role of Ethel Savage.

Ethel’s three stepchildren have her put into a mental facility called The Cloisters. There she realizes that the patients of the hospital are not crazy, but that her stepchildren are. Ethel does not really care for her stepchildren, but grows fond of the patients she meets within the mental hospital.

This version of the play will be directed by Corey Nathan.

The performance is “a poignant play that puts the fun in dysfunctional and will leave you pondering the longings of the human heart,” according to Grace Baptist’s church website.

The play will be performed at the F Modular Theatre at the Grace Baptist Church on Copperfield Drive.

“The Curious Savage” opens Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. The play will run from May 3-5, and May 9-11.

“The Curious Savage” was originally written by John Patrick and opened on Oct. 24, 1950, at the Martin Beck Theatre in Manhattan.

The role of Ethel Savage was originally played by Lillian Gish. The play was originally directed by Peter Glenville.

Tickets are $10 each, or two for $16.

Here are “The Curious Savage” dates and showtimes: Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, May 4 at 1 p.m.; Sunday, May 5 at 4 p.m.; Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m.; Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m.
