If you are at all familiar with the philanthropic soul of Santa Clarita, you know full well how much giving occurs year round. However something about the holidays tends to bring out even more of the volunteer spirit, as evidenced by the Thanksgiving feasts put on by the Santa Clarita Valley Boys and Girls Club.
Three different clubs; Canyon Country, Val Verde and Newhall each celebrated a Thanksgiving feast, with Val Verde drawing over 400 people.
The events were organized as a pot luck, and families were able to celebrate together.
Of course, without some timely contributions, the whole thing might not have happened. The Valencia Auto dealers sponsored the Canyon Country event, while the Hacker-Braly law firm swooped in to purchase a batch of turkeys when another event ran short. Joe Messina of All Covered IT Support also donated a host of turkeys to the events.
Showing their support by way of elbow grease, many of the Club’s board members acted as servers for the events.
If you’re looking to get involved, there will be no shortage of opportunities this holiday season. Simple gestures, like donating a toy to the Sheriff’s Toy Drive or a bag of groceries to the SCV Food Pantry will go a long way towards helping our neighbors.
