A pundit of pundits, Ziegler’s acerbic analysis of the media comes with an inside perspective and years of news experience, including spots on numerous national TV talk show hosts, he said.

“I know firsthand just how broken the media is — people need to know that,” Ziegler said. “And it’s probably the thing about which I’m most passionate. I think it’s incredibly important that we have a news media that works.”

The show will be, “The final word about this past week’s news, and the first word on next week’s,” Ziegler said, adding it will cover “news, pop culture, media, sports… if we find anything that’s interesting, we’ll talk about it.”

Brandon, the show’s co-host with more than 20 years of experience, will bring the listener perspective and questions meant to explore topic’s beyond the mainstream media narrative, Ziegler said.

“(The show’s not going to be super political,” he explained. “It’s a show about life, and like life, it’s going to have a little bit of everything. There’s clearly a liberal slant in 90 percent of news media — that’s always been the case and probably always will be.

“I’m actually more concerned about other biases in the media, the economic bias, what I call the frivolous bias… the bias toward chasing Internet clicks. What passes for news now is whatever produces the most clicks. … That’s ridiculous. That’s not what news is. So important stories get completely bypassed.”

Brandon and Ziegler worked together at KFI AM-640 before Ziegler’s on-air argument with show host John Kobylt regarding the Iraq War led to Ziegler’s eventual departure, Ziegler said.

Brandon started out as a DJ in Roanoke, Va., and then came to Los Angeles where she began her radio imaging voiceover career, according to the show’s website (Click here for a biography of John Ziegler).

“I’m someone who’s not afraid to speak my mind, and occasionally that gets you in trouble in the (politically correct) world,” Ziegler said, describing members of the media as “morons” who consistently miss real stories in an effort to create more marketable versions.

“This Sunday, we’re going to be talking about the upcoming midterm election, the role the media plays in all of that, the war against football,” said Ziegler, who’s been involved in coverage surrounding the Penn State football program and the Steubenville, Ohio high school football team in recent years. “I think football is under attack in every possible way in our society.”

  1. Go get ’em JZ!!! Can’t wait to listen later tonight! I’m just back from a 9 month NATO deployment to Bosnia-Herzegovina. I consider your new show as a “Welcome Home” present!

  2. This is like an early 30th birthday AND Christmas present all in one. I am so THRILLED to be able to listen to John and Leah again. They were my favorite show when they were on KFI. I hope there is a podcast so that I can download and share with the people I commute with to work. Thanks KHTS for making this one man’s dream come true: JZ is back on the air!

  3. Awesome! Just awesome! So glad Ziegler’s back on the air!

  4. Great to hear you back on the radio. I’m playing “catch up”, downloading your podcasts. Good to have your voice of sanity broadcasting on the airwaves, and Leah is a great radio partner.

  5. hey Ziegler, can you let Leah talk more than a few words at a time, “uh, well, ok, haha”… are things I hear. Also I know you can fill with topics for three full hours but i think callers input would deepen the show.

    Good luck
