The new substation will house the Los Angeles County Marine Patrol Unit who are in charge of Lake Operations.
“The new substation and technology enables Sheriff’s Parks patrol to enhance public safety for recreational visitors,” said Captain Smith.
The newest boat used by Sheriff’s Park Patrol deputies is the Safe Boat, which was originally manufactured as a Special Purpose Craft-Near Shore Life Boat. It is a self-righting, shallow draft, fast response surf boat designed for use in heavy weather conditions in coastal areas.
Also premiered was the first Public Service Announcement video depicting the many unique areas and specialized equipment used to patrol our very unique and vast parks.
LASD Parks Bureau Dive Team deputies conducted a demonstration of how a dive for evidence or for a body would be handled. There was an underwater camera and communication with the divers during the demonstration.
Castaic Lake is located in the Santa Clarita Valley in northern Los Angeles County.
