Benefit Engagement To Raise Funds To Launch This
Professional Theatre Company In The Santa Clarita Valley

[view:node_ad=5]The Theatre Project/SCV, which last year scored a triumph when it presented a star-studded musical tribute to the musical genius of Stephen Schwartz, will present THE WORLD GOES ROUND – The Songs of Kander & Ebb, the acclaimed musical revue that pays homage to the composing team that brought the world “Chicago,” “Cabaret” and many more legendary Broadway productions.  There will be four performances only, September 20-23 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.

The vast range of human experience is explored in song after impeccable song by one of Broadway’s most daring and successful teams and masters of the heart-grabbing Broadway showstopper.  This glittering revue features unforgettable gems from throughout Kander & Ebb’s incredible career in theatre, film and television, spotlighting songs from “Cabaret;” “Chicago;” “New York, New York;” “Funny Lady;” “Kiss Of The Spiderwoman” and more.

Filled with humor, romance, drama, nonstop melody and brassy, insightful lyrics, THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND is a thrilling celebration of life and the fighting spirit that keeps us all going.
Among the musical numbers included in THE WORLD GOES ROUND are “All That Jazz,” “How Lucky Can You Get,” “My Coloring Book,” “Maybe This Time,” “Money, Money,” “Cabaret” and “New York, New York.”
Taking its title from a tune the songwriting team wrote for Liza Minnelli to sing in the Martin Scorsese film, “New York, New York,” THE WORLD GOES ROUND is an eclectic collection of love songs, torch songs, and ascerbicly witty comic numbers originally assembled and conceived for the stage by director Scott Ellis, choreographer Susan Stroman and librettist David Thompson, who had collaborated on the Kander and Ebb Steel Pier, and who later went on to work together on the landmark 1996 Broadway revival production of Chicago.  The show originally opened Off-Broadway in 1991 at the Westside Theatre, where it ran for 408 performances.  The show won the Lucille Lortel Award for “Outstanding Musical” and the Drama Desk Award for “Outstanding Musical Revue.”
Casting for this special engagement will be announced at a later date.
Performances of THE WORLD GOES ROUND will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 8:00 PM, with one matinee performance on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
Admission for THE WORLD GOES ROUND will range in price from $15 – $75.  Tickets will go on sale to the general public in August.  For more information about this benefit performance, or about becoming involved with The Theatre Project/SCV, please call (661) 633-3550 or send an email to SCV_theproj@hotmail.com.
