The SCV Emergency Winter Shelter has two upcoming comedy fundraisers that are sure to offer plenty of knee-slapping laughs.

On Sunday, May 15 at 3:30 p.m., the shelter hosts its signature fundraiser Humor Helps comedy show. Humor Helps will be held in Blessed Kateri’s Slattery Hall, located at  2508 Copper Hill Drive in Santa Clarita.

Tickets to the show cost $15 and all proceeds benefit the SCV homeless shelter. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here, at the door, or by calling Esmeralda at 661-607-5418.

The four-headliner show will feature comedians Don Friesen, Frank Lucero, Randy Lubas and Phil Perrier. Don is the only two-time winner of the San Francisco Comedy Competition, and just shot a TV special for Showtime. He has also been on Comedy Central. Frank has been on Comics Unleashed, Que Loco and HBO. Randy owns J.R.’s Comedy Club and has appeared more than 20 times on national TV and Phil is a writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

On Monday, May 23, the shelter will host J.R.’s Celebrity Golf Classic and Comedy Show at Robinson Ranch Golf Club. Each foursome will have a renowned comedian golfing with their group. Lunch and dinner will be provided for all golfers.

Following the golf tournament will be an eventful dinner with silent auction, comedy entertainment, awards and door prizes. The evening banquet will include stand-up comedy by several comedians including Bob Hays, Jamie Alcroft, Randy Lubas, Conrad Lawrence, Don McMillan, Jackie Flynn, Don Friesen and Mark Eddie.

All money raised will benefit the SCV homeless shelter. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here or by calling David Hartmire at (661) 799-7940.

This past season the shelter served 203 individuals and 30 families including 40 children. The shelter offers a refuge of security, warm meals, clothing, medical help and job/housing resources for SCV’s homeless.

“We are only able to offer help to so many of the SCV’s homeless because of the community’s support of our shelter,” said Executive Director Tim Davis. “We want to provide our supporters with fun and humorous options for helping the homeless. We hope everyone will pick one or both events to attend. Funds raised allow us to continue bringing hope to our neighbors in deepest need.”
