Friday night, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies from the Santa Clarita station conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) checkpoint on Lyons Avenue near Avenida Dorena. The checkpoint took place in westbound lanes between 7:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m.

616 vehicles were screened, and three drivers were arrested for DUI. Additionally, seven citations were issued and six vehicles were towed. Three of the towed vehicles were impounded on 30-day holds.

The program, which aims to serve as a deterrent as much as it does an arrest operation, was funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
