Off-duty deputy remembers description of suspect vehicle from pre-Christmas incident, makes arrest.
Three suspects, one a parole violator, were arrested in Valencia on Wednesday by an off-duty sheriff’s deputy who recognized their car from a description broadcast after a Dec. 23 shoplifting incident.
Taken into custody was Thomas Danho, 21, of Northridge, who was arrested on felony charges of identity theft and receiving stolen property; Jose Diaz, 35, of Sylmar, a parolee who was arrested on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and Jessica Barrile, 20, of Granada Hills, who was arrested on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of being under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Investigators believe that two of the three may have been involved in the Dec. 23 theft from the Valencia Best Buy store, when two Playstation systems were taken.
Deputies recovered a Playstation system from the suspect’s car, along with other electronic items that are believed to be stolen. Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and several credit related and identification documents belonging to other individuals were also recovered from the car.
The suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Danho posted a $50,000 bond and was released pending future court proceedings; Diaz is being held without bail and Barrile remains in custody.
