AT&T Champions Classic just a few months away.

Pro golfer Tom Purtzer is still smiling. And rightfully so, after winning last year’s AT&T Champions Classic at the Valencia Country Club. It was his second victory in the tournament, which draws thousands to Santa Clarita annually during its week long run.

Last year’s victory may have been a little sweeter, especially since it was won after a dramatic four hole sudden death playoff. That playoff hole came down to putting, and Purtzer surprised all when he one-upped his competition in the final shot to grab the victory.  

“I was putting pretty well,” recalled Purtzer. “I felt like [I could win] if I could just get it up on the green and have a chance for a birdie putt.”

Purtzer is looking forward to coming back, if he can make it. “This is like my favorite tournament,” said Purtzer. “I enjoy Santa Clarita, I enjoy the area, the golf course…everything about this tournament is first class.”  

The Champions Classic returns to Santa Clarita March 10th through the 16th.
