In preparation for the Amgen Tour of California, set to come to Santa Clarita in February, all Santa Clarita residents are encouraged to participate in “Hit the Trail,” from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. this Saturday. The day kicks-off with Mayor Frank Ferry leading the way to Bridgeport Park where there will be food, giveaways, and community booths raising awareness for cancer.

Now you can learn all you need to know to become a genealogical sleuth at the “Santa Clarita Valley Family History Fair,” from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday. This seminar will feature experts in family history, digital photography and scrap booking leading workshops and lectures on how to trace your heritage, and all activities are free to the public.

–Witness the roasting of a lifetime! KHTS co-owner Carl Goldman has offered up himself to be the subject of good-natured jokes from community leaders—all in the name of healthcare! “The Elks Roast of Carl Goldman” fundraiser will be held at The Elks of Santa Clarita at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, with the roast beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are tax-deductable, and funds raised will go towards the Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers.

–Go treasure seeking while supporting a local sports group. Canyon High Boys Soccer will be holding a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Canyon High Parking Lot. To donate items, drop them off between the hours of 6:30 and 8:00 a.m., and funds raised will go towards the soccer program at Canyon High School.
–Enjoy an American Classic brought to life at The Repertory East Playhouse. Tennessee Williams’ “A Streetcar Named Desire” opens Friday night with a Wine Gala, and food catered by Loose Goose Wine Festival and RSVP Catering. The show runs from January 23 until February 21st, with Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday matinee performances.
