Tractor-Trailer Overturns On Southbound I-5

Six-hour Sigalert due to weight, volume of trailer's load.

Early
morning traffic on the southbound I-5 was snarled just south of Vista
Del Lago Road due to an overturned paper truck
Tuesday morning.

Shortly
after 5 a.m., Alfredo Espinoza, 50, of
San Bernardino was traveling at 55 miles
per hour when the right front tire blew out on his commercial tractor-trailer.
According to the California Highway Patrol, he made an unsafe turning movement
and lost control of the vehicle, hitting the metal guard rail and going up the
dirt embankment which caused the truck to roll over on its right side.

The
vehicle came to rest in the three left lanes, blocking them. The truck was
carrying seven rolls of paper, each weighing more than 5,000 pounds. While the
load was not spilled, it took several hours to upright the trailer and clear
the lanes, resulting in a 6-hour Sigalert that ended at 1 p.m.

Espinoza
complained of pain to his right hip as a result of the incident.
