The California Department of Transportation, or Caltrans, will close portions of SR-14, also known as the Antelope Valley Freeway, from Interstate 5 to Sand Canyon Road.

The closures are a part of a pavement rehabilitation project, officials said Wednesday.
The closures are listed below but are subject to change.
Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24
Northbound SR-14
- 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Up to four lanes between I-5 and Sand Canyon Rd.
- 6 p.m. to 3 p.m. – On- and off- ramps CLOSED between Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Rd.
- 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Connector from northbound I-5 CLOSED
Southbound SR-14
- 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to four lanes between Sand Canyon Rd and I-5
- 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. – On- and off- ramps CLOSED between Sand Canyon Rd. and Sierra Highway
- 11 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Connector to southbound I-5 CLOSED
Friday, July 24, through Saturday, July 25
Northbound SR-14
- 7 p.m. to 7 p.m. – Up to four lanes between I-5 and Sand Canyon Rd.
- 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. – On- and off- ramps CLOSED between Sierra Highway and Sand Canyon Rd.
- 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Connector from northbound I-5 CLOSED
Southbound SR-14
- 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to four lanes between Sand Canyon Rd and I-5
- 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. – On- and off- ramps CLOSED between Sand Canyon Rd and Sierra Highway
- 11 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Connector to southbound I-5 CLOSED
The project may require FULL Freeway closures but advance notices will be provided.
Caltrans advises motorists to please “Be Work Zone Alert” at all times.
Detours will be posted, while the new pavement will improve mobility and enhance safety for motorists.
J McLoughlin Engineering Co. is the contractor of the $6 million project which is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016.
