The California Department of Transportation, CalTrans, plans to implement the closures listed below between April 6-11, 2015, for striping and signage work.
Detours will be provided. Closures are subject to change.
Southbound I-5 Closures
- All lanes from SR-14 to Balboa Boulevard: midnight to 4 a.m.
- Southbound truck lane: midnight to 4 a.m.
- Southbound I-5 connector to eastbound I-210: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Southbound I-5 connector to northbound SR-14: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Southbound Highway 14 Closures
- All lanes from Sierra Highway to I-5: midnight to 4 a.m.
- Up to three lanes from Sierra Highway to I-5: 10 p.m. to midnight.
- Southbound SR-14 connector to northbound I-5: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Southbound SR-14 connector to southbound I-5: 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Cal Trans needs to take care of this project during the weekends! The traffic is bad enough without any closures. At best, they should finish by 3 am sharp, not 6 am, that’s an outrage! I don’t think they are commuting to work, probably teleworking. We really need the freeway expanded , like the 5.
I take the 14 S at Sierra Hwy.from Newhall to get to the I-5 to get to work in Glendale. I eed to leave at 5:30 am on Monday.will I be able to get thru??
If not can you tell me where to pick up the I-5?
