A big rig carrying Budweiser beer plunged over 100 feet down an embankment off the 5 Freeway north of Santa Clarita Tuesday.

UPDATE: (2:00 p.m.) — A SigAlert has been issued blocking the No. 3 and 4 lanes on the southbound 5 freeway for approximately five hours.

Around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision on the southbound 5 Freeway near Templin Highway north of Castaic, said Charisma Murillo, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“A big rig went over the side,” Murillo said.

The big rig plunged approximately 150 feet down the embankment, however the occupants of the truck were able to exit the vehicle and climb up the embankment, Murillo said.

As of 1:30 p.m., no transports to the hospital have been made.
