A person was sent to the hospital Wednesday morning after their box truck caught fire in a 5 Freeway crash, that impacted traffic throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
Around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of a southbound 5 Freeway crash south of Calgrove Boulevard, said Kaitlyn Aldana, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“A box truck caught fire, which spread to the brush,” Aldana said.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire by 5:23 a.m., according to Aldana.
As a result of the 5 Freeway crash, one patient was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
The crash snarled traffic throughout Santa Clarita, causing backups on side roads and the 14 Freeway.
