Marie Antoinette Davis, 67, was killed when the Toyota Corolla she was driving was stopped at a light, and then struck from behind by a Ford F-250, a collision that pushed the small-sized sedan into the path of an oncoming bus.

The crash took place in Canyon Country, near the intersection of Golden Valley Road and Sierra Highway.

“It pushed the Corolla westbound across Sierra Highway, (where it) broad-sided a city bus,” said Sgt. Scott Shoemaker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Davis was declared dead at the scene by first responders, according to Fire officials, who reported that the crash happened shortly after 5 p.m.

The driver of the Ford truck was also transported to the hospital for injuries.

Blood for toxicology tests was taken from the surviving parties as a matter of course, according to Sheriff’s Station officials, who noted that it was standard procedure in a fatal crash.

Detectives will likely have to wait several weeks for the results of those tests. Detectives’ interviews are still being conducted, and evidence is still under review, Shoemaker said.

Any potential charges submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review would be done at the conclusion of the Traffic Unit’s investigation.

No one has been arrested at this time.

  1. FyI: It takes less than an hour to get alcohol serum back, (I work at an ER)

    • Thanks for working at an ER Kristina but things work a little different in law enforcement. In this case, the blood samples will need to be sent to the LA County Crime Lab which receives and processes evidence for law enforcement all throughout LA County. This takes time.

  2. This is a very dangerous intersection. Time for the City to correct the problems before more deaths occur.

  3. How sad for the Davis family !!!! Sending prayers for all involved!
Please tell us that the driver who caused this terrible accident wasn’t on their phone!!!

  4. We need to slow this city down. Three and four lane roads with 50+ speed limits and cross traffic everywhere. Then someone speeding even 5mph over makes for too many terrible high speed collisions. Way too many fatalities. This has got to stop. One day it could be yours or my loved ones, friends or family. I’m afraid to drive and have a wife, daughter, and soon to be a son driving. Scares the crap out of me. ENOUGH ALREADY!!! SLOW THIS CITY DOWN!!!!!!!

  5. Thanks for clearing up the details! It was not a bus accident, but a speeding truck and trailer accident in addition to its victims.

  6. This is more information than we’re getting from the Signal!
