The crash, which occurred Feb. 8 around 4 a.m., killed both the driver, 19-year-old Justin Dean Nichols and the passenger who has been identified as 20-year-old Ulises Mejia Hernandez from Agua Dulce, said Lt. Fred Corral with the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.
“The cause of death (to Hernandez) was accidental death due to multiple blunt force injuries and other significant conditions including post mortem body charring,” Corral said.
Preliminary reports identified the passenger of the vehicle as a 21-year-old male, according to a previous story.
Nichols was driving a 2002 Chevy Camaro south on Sierra Highway, north of Soledad Canyon Road, according to a California Highway Patrol report. Nichols lost control of the car and went over a 50-foot embankment.
The crash is under investigation by the Antelope Valley CHP office.
