Shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, a driver called in a road rage incident on the Southbound 14 near Placerita Canyon Road, after they saw a motorcycle driver “gesturing” to a driver, according to Officer Eric Priessman, spokesperson for California Highway Patrol.

“The person who called in the incident said the driver of the vehicle swerved and hit the motorcycle,” said Priessman. “We are still investigating.”

Both drivers involved in the road rage incident pulled over to talk with investigators, added Priessman.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department was dispatched to treat a patient at the scene, but no one was transported to the hospital, according to Fire officials.

  1. Gesture all you want, “swerving” into a motorcycle on the freeway is attempted murder in my book. Some car drivers may not like that motorcyclists seem to have an advantage lane splitting (an advantage the car driver can take advantage of as well — if he or she would just get a motorcycle!) or something, but trying to take them out, regardless of whether words or gestures were exchanged, is inexcusable.

    • I totally agree with Brian. I drive these freeways a lot as well as the streets of SCV and the drivers here are super aggressive, so much so, that endangering another’s life with their vehicle doesn’t seem to be a big deal. Example: tailgaters (and a lot of them here) will be so close to you that you can’t see their headlights and then aggressively pass you and get in front of you and brake check you. Happens a lot. And I’m driving the speed limit or 5MPH over it so I’m no slow poke. Not just men, women too do this. If you’re all in such a rush leave 5-10 minutes earlier. I do!!

  2. I’m SO glad I don’t have to commute every day like I used to. Just seems like people probably feel like rats in a cage…They fight and eat each other! By the time they get past their measly 2 lane “Freeway” in Palmdale, they’re ready to kill. Open up the dang carpool lane…make a truck only lane…Just better planning on LA’s part, and better time management on everybody else’s would go a long way. AND LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE! Just because some guy passes you, doesn’t mean he “won” whatever ego contest you had going in your head!

  3. Tailgating and speeding the two violations I see most common. Why aren’t there more tickets? In my opinion, the reason these violations are not the number one priority in this valley, is because the violators are protected. You have a sticker on your car, firemen, police, sheriff. They can drive so close, you can see food in their teeth. Are they going to get fined for that? Or course not, they are above the law and proud of it and they will prove it to you as they laugh and flip you off as they pass you.

  4. Stay in your lane, go the speed limit and avoid eye contact with aggressive drivers.
