The crash was reported around 2 p.m. on the 27000 block of Honby Ave as a traffic collision with a person trapped, according to Gustavo Medina, inspector with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“When units got on scene they reported no people were trapped,” Medina said. “Firefighters did request a second paramedic squad and ambulance for a second patient.”

One person was pronounced dead at the hospital after being ejected from the vehicle, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The victim, described as a male Hispanic, was not wearing his seatbelt or a helmet, added Miller.

The condition of the second passenger is unknown at this time, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, said officials

Witnesses at the scene reported the two involved were driving in circles in the school parking lot before the crash occurred.

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit are on scene investigating the incident as of Tuesday afternoon.

  1. He was a close friend of us sorry that this happened to his family my condolences to his family

  2. I live around the corner. I’m sad for his family. However, this is not the first time that someone has driven that buggy recklessly, it has been driven like that many times before, and on the public streets. I am glad that no one else, who regularly walks by that elementary school, was injured or killed. The buggy belongs to Unique Motor Sports, they should hold themselves accountable as well.
