Andrew Garrett Straughan, 24, of Santa Clarita, was killed in the crash, said Ed Winter, assistant chief with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner Coroner’s Office.
The crash was reported around 9 p.m. on Bouquet Canyon Road and Wellston Drive involving two vehicles, said Inspector David Michel with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“It came across as a traffic collision, person trapped, with a report of a possible fatality,” he said. “Two patients was transported by (ambulance).”
At least one person had to be extracted using the “Jaws of Life,” fire officials confirmed.
“According to the captain on scene, one car hit a car from behind, and the car that was hit crashed into a pole and that driver was DOA,” Michel said.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
