Freeway Closures In The San Fernando Valley Postponed During Holidays

Nightly closures of the southbound I-5 freeway in the San Fernando Valley will be postponed during the holiday season, according to the Caltrans website.

The improvements are taking place between the I-5/SR-170 interchange near Sheldon Street through January 2014 from 11 p.m. – 4 a.m., excluding Friday and Saturday nights.

No closures will take place Tuesday through Thursday and Tuesday Dec. 31 and Wednesday Jan. 1 in an effort to ease holiday traffic.

Motorists traveling during the closure will be detoured from the I-5 to the SR-170 to exit Roscoe Boulevard, continue westbound on Roscoe to Sheldon Street, northbound on Sheldon Street to Laurel Canyon Boulevard southbound on Laurel Canyon Boulevard, then re-enter southbound I-5 at Laurel Canyon Boulevard.

Times and dates of closures may change due to weather and other factors.
