3:05 p.m. – Two black men were seen fleeing from the scene of a grand theft incident at a cellphone store in the River Oaks Shopping Center, according to Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The two were initially pursued by deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, but the pursuit was called off after officials deemed the suspects’ speed as too fast to safely pursue.
“I heard one deputy say they were exceeding 100 miles per hour,” Miller said.
Law enforcement officials are still searching for the two men near a Carl’s Jr. restaurant in Gorman as of 3 p.m.
Officials set up a containment around the area, blocking off the streets in order to prevent interference with their search for the two suspects.
