UPDATE 4:30 p.m.:  CHP estimates the 5 Freeway truck route at Highway 14 will be open by 6 p.m. Monday.

ORIGINAL STORY: The two collisions have resulted in a full closure of the I -5 southbound and I-210 eastbound connector, as well as a full closure of the I-5 southbound truck route and SR-14 bypass.

A fatal collision was the first to be reported to CHP officials, and it occurred at 12:10 p.m. on the connector.

“It is a fatality,” said Eric Priessman, spokesman for the Newhall CHP office. “We have a black Mercedes versus a tow truck.”

One person was declared dead on scene, according to Officer Kravig with the CHP Traffic Management Center.

By 12:22 p.m. a Sig Alert had been issued informing commuters that there would be a full road closure and a subsequent traffic investigation caused a full closure of the connector.

As of 4:00 p.m. on Monday, the officials had reopened two of lanes on the eastbound 210 connector, but lanes 3 and 4 were still closed at a full closure.

The second collision occurred on the I-5 southbound truck route and was between a “tanker” and semi-truck colliding with one another, according to officials. That collision was initially reported to officials at 2:40 p.m.

By 4:10 p.m. on Monday a full closure was in effect for the I-5 southbound truck route.
