Horseback riders of all disciplines are all invited to the ETI (Equestrian Trails, Inc.) Trail Trials on July 17 at Vasquez Rocks. Trail Trials are a competition on a marked trail course on mountain trails, park trails, and in desert areas with natural or simulated obstacles that can be found on trails.
A volunteer judge at each of the 10-12 obstacles evaluates safety, performance, and control of each horse and rider team. Scoring is by points; zero is the best and 10 means, well, you need to work on it.

Trail Trials are meant to be fun and enjoyable for everyone and there are levels such as Open, Junior, Novice, etc., and are open to all disciplines of riding and all breeds of equines. Families and friends can ride together at Trail Trials; they only need to separate at each obstacle.
Any attire normally worn for trail riding is accepted. Enclosed footwear is required; boots are recommended. Approved safety helmets are also recommended. Any type or combination of tack may be used; a saddle and bridle/bosal/hackamore are a must.
The first rider leaves at 8:00 a.m. and the last at 10:00 a.m. The ride averages 2-3 hours.
Everyone is invited. Qualified Open and Novice Divisions earn a trophy buckle. There is a non-refundable pre-entry fee due by July 12 that includes lunch. Contact Kimberly for more information: (661) 478-2770 or jdwight@aol.com.
