Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen: The Pizookie Of Summer Movies

In case you’re wondering, yes, the acting is mediocre, the story is about as thin as Lindsey Lohan, Shia LaBeouf’s character still overachieves by dating Megan Fox and yes, this two and a half hour (without previews) film is filled with non stop action sequences that more or less have little to do with the story.

However, as it pertains to food, sometimes in life we eat things that we know are bad for us but we don’t care because it is fun to eat even though they are high in carbs and offer little sustenance (i.e. the pizookie). This applies to movies because it takes about one trailer of this film or a viewing of its predecessor to know exactly what you’re getting, which is why I don’t complain about the little things like acting and story, because well, duh, it’s a Transformers movie. The only thing that matters is did I have fun gaining calories (or in movie terms losing brain cells)? Well, I did. This movie was without a doubt ridiculous, but it was still a load of fun.

Now onto the plot (won’t take long I promise).

The army (led by Josh Duhamel and Tyrese) is working in conjunction with the autobots (led by Optimus Prime) to find the rest of the Decepticons who are in search of something to resurrect Megatron. Meanwhile, Sam (played by the always funny Shia LaBeouf) is getting ready to go to college. While in his room he is blasted with a piece of the Allspark (remember that really big cube from the first one?) and he starts seeing symbols and random images. He also is trying to maintain a long distance relationship with Mikayla (played by the “picturesque” Megan Fox).

transformersposterpicAs soon as Sam gets to college, chaos ensues as Megatron is resurrected and he tries to track Sam down and locate the information in his head so he can bring back his master named The Fallen. That’s about all there really is to know, and that’s ok because as stated previously this is a Transformers film and unlike the tag line the plot is not more than meets the eye.

This movie has everything (well almost; it is PG-13) a guy could as for in a summer movie.

  • Great comedy (though it may be rough on the kids; they get away with a lot of excessive profanity, toilet humor, sex jokes, and drug humor etc.);
  • Megan Fox;
  • Cool cars;
  • A Linkin Park fueled soundtrack;
  • Awesome action and fight sequences;
  • Bumblebee;
  • Optimus Prime;
  • And Megan Fox..

It was a load of fun and that’s all this movie needs to be.

Director Michael Bay (“The Rock” “Armageddon”) is hated by most film fans because all he does is create horrible action movies that are devoid of any intelligent thought whatsoever, unlike film purists I can appreciate the fact that’s what he was put on this planet to do. He is the movie equivalent to Ben & Jerry’s.

For all the ladies, Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin star in “My Sister’s Keeper”.

Thank You for reading and stay tuned as I will be evading Christian Bale and the FBI as they track down Johnny Depp’s Dillinger in “Public Enemies”.

As always you can catch all of these films at our local Santa Clarita Edwards Cinemas.
