Transient Jailed For Midnight Fight In Downtown Newhall

khts_crimeA transient man is behind bars for kicking another man repeatedly in the head Thursday morning during an altercation in downtown Newhall shortly after midnight.

 

 

Lt. Joseph Efflandt of the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s station said that Robert Kenaston, 48, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after he apparently caused great bodily harm to the man, who refused medical treatment. Efflandt said that the men were acquaintances and were both homeless.

The incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of Walnut and 8th Streets in Newhall. Kenaston is being held at the Santa Clarita Valley station in lieu of $30,000 bail.
