Major development recently killed by LA City Council.
Planning Commissioner and City Council candidate Diane Trautman was the recipient of some recognition not long ago from Los Angeles City Councilmember Greig Smith. In a letter, he wrote “Your presence played a significant role in persuading a majority of my colleagues to vote against this awful project.” He continued; “I will always be grateful for your willingness to stand up against Las Lomas.”
Las Lomas was a development planned for the jagged hills above the Newhall pass. The massive development would have clogged the I-5 with an estimated 72,000 extra car trips a day, and it would have come with nearly 3 million square feet of commercial and residential construction.
The area where Las Lomas was planned is also currently a wildlife corridor.
The project was fiercely opposed by the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County, and a few weeks ago the City of Los Angeles denied the project as well.
