Harvinder Singh Dhaliwal, a truck driver from Canada, was sentenced to seven years in state prison for the death of Renee Annette Eberhard. The 26 year old preschool teacher died in June of 2004 as a result of an illegal U-turn made by a truck on Highway 126. The small car she was driving became lodged underneath the back wheels of the truck. Dhaliwal will serve six years for vehicular manslaughter and one year for hit-and-run. The maximum allowed under the law.
