Two Arrests Made In Craig’s List Robbery

khts_crimeTwo arrests were made in a November 20 robbery that yielded much more than just recovered property.

Deputies responded to the 19200 block of Golden Valley Road in Canyon Country, where two individuals reported they had just been robbed.

The pair said they had driven from Hollywood to meet with the prospective seller of a camera they found on Craig’s List.

When the victims arrived to meet the “seller” they were confronted by at least three suspects who blocked in their vehicle and proceeded to take all their personal belongings, including the cash they had brought to purchase the camera and their cell phones. The suspects, who wore ski masks, fled in a black BMW with no license plates.

Investigators were able to identify a potential suspect by unraveling a web of electronic communications and determined that at least one similar case had occurred in North Hollywood.

LAPD detectives located the vehicle used in the crime and arrested suspect Talin Shahin, 25, of North Hollywood, on Nov. 30, recovering the Santa Clarita victims’ cell phones from the vehicle. She was released the same day.

On Friday, December 3, Santa Clarita detectives arrested Shahin at the LAPD North Hollywood Community Police Station when she came in to retrieve some property. She was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of felony robbery charges.

Shahin is being held without bail at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood and has three pending cases. Her next court appearance is December 30 in Santa Clarita Superior Court.
Further investigation led to a second suspect, Aram Damirjian, 27, of Canyon Country. Santa Clarita detectives arrested him at the San Fernando Superior Court on Tuesday, December 7, right after he appeared on an unrelated marijuana case.

Santa Clarita detectives conducted a search warrant operation at Damirjian’s residence in the 28200 block of Winterdale Drive, Canyon Country, and uncovered more than just evidence of a robbery. At the house, deputies found a substantial marijuana cultivation operation consisting of more than 90 marijuana plants inside the garage.

Damirjian was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of felony robbery and drug cultivation. He posted bond and was released; he is also due in court on December 30.

Detectives believe there is one more male suspect involved in the crime who has not yet been identified. Anyone with information regarding this crime or the outstanding suspect is asked to call Detective Painter of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-799-5141.
