Two Suspects Identified With Public’s Help

Media blitz pays off, detectives have names of persons suspected in Newhall burglary.

Detectives from the SCV burglary and theft team have names to go with faces posted this week on the website as well as the KHTS and other media outlets. The deputies offered the closed-circuit photograph in hopes of questioning some of the individuals pictured, which was taken prior to a Sept. 9 incident at Homero's Gift Shop on Lyons Avenue in Newhall. Their media blitz paid off.

Less then 24 hours after the public posting (see the first story here ), Santa
Clarita Valley Sheriff's Detectives received a call from an anonymous tipster
who positively identified the primary suspect in the case as Jonathan William
Maier, 18, of Canyon Country.

Detectives were also able to identify
the two other individuals listed in the initial post and through further
investigation they determined they were not involved with the burglary.
After the suspect was identified, detectives were able to obtain information on
a second man, Kevin Anthony Voytish, 20, of Valencia,
who is being sought for questioning in connection with the case.

Detectives were also able to determine that Maier is the primary suspect
in a second incident, which is a Robbery that occurred on the same date of the
Burglary in the parking lot of the Vallarta Market at 23449
Lyons Avenue, Newhall.  During that incident
a woman was assaulted and her purse was stolen.

Both suspects are outstanding and the Santa Clarita Valley
Sheriff's Station is now seeking public assistance in determining their
whereabouts.  Anyone with information regarding these crimes or the
suspects should contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661)
