One man’s trash is another’s artistic inspiration. Two art exhibits now on display at the Westfield Valencia Town Center showcase artwork created with recycled materials.

The two galleries – “Small Space, Big Stories Gallery” and “Town Center Art Space” are located just off The Patios (near Dig It) and outside of the food court next to Sisley Italian Kitchen.

Open now through May 4, the Small Space gallery is home to an eclectic display of local art in an exhibit titled “Found.”

Each piece has been created using items found in the Santa Clara River during the city’s 2011 River Rally clean-up event. Five artists were selected by the City of Santa Clarita and given three months to create their art piece.

On the opposite end of the mall is another collection of conversation pieces created by Santa Clarita artist Paula Dwyer. Her exhibit titled “Visual Tabouli” was also created using many recycled materials.  The display features five female mannequins used to visually express issues surrounding our planet, Mother Nature and mankind.

Both “Common Spaces: Art in Public Places” exhibits are on display at the Westfield Valencia Town Center through the month of May.
