Unclosed Valve Drops Water Pressure In Canyon Country

It was operator error that left some Canyon Country residents without water pressure Friday morning.

Mauricio Guardato of the Santa Clarita Water Company said that an employee doing routine maintenance of a tank at the top of Whites Canyon Road did not completely close a valve at the tank site, causing pressure to drop at around 4 a.m. when residents started taking showers and sprinklers came on.

“The demand got greater than what the system could handle,” Guardato explained.

An operator was sent to the area and found the valve, which they adjusted, restoring proper pressure to the area.
