Mother tries to discipline child for unlawful behavior becomes victim.
A 14-year old girl returning to her Via Canon home at 1:30 a.m. didn’t like what her mother had to say and took it out on her physically.
According to Lt. Brenda Cambra, the girl told her mother she wanted to sleep, but after arguing with her mother, tried to leave and began striking the woman in the head and face before escaping by tearing the window screen of her bedroom.
After the girl left, the mother called deputies. While deputies were attending to the injured mother, the girl return, having taken a late-night swim. She was arrested for the battery on her mother, taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital to check on her alcohol level and is in custody at Sylmar Juvenile Hall. She faces charges of battery, vandalism for the damage to the window and curfew violation.
