Nicole is originally from Buffalo New York, and she moved to Santa Clarita with Kirk, who was born and raised in California, in 1989.

They both remember when Santa Clarita was much smaller, referencing, “walking across that dirt lot that now has Bridgeport Homes on it,” Nicole said. “It used to take 45 minutes to get out of the industrial center and to your house.”

Nicole and Kirk say they have enjoyed their time here in Santa Clarita.

“It’s fun to have been a part of the growth of this city,” Nicole said.

Kirk started his successful plumbing company called Plumbing by Kirk here, and Nicole has found equal success through her career as a real estate agent.

Kirk has owned Plumbing by Kirk since 2003, and he is still an active plumber in the business, said Nicole.

Kirk and Nicole met as co workers, and almost immediately fell for eachother. Kirk admits that he couldn’t stop staring at his now wife. They married in 1994 and have two children together.

Their two children, nine year old daughter Paige, and 14 year old son Peyton, both attend SCVi charter and stay involved in their parents charity outreaches.

“We try to incorporate them into everything that we do, we get them involved as young as possible,” Nicole said. “They have a lot of fun doing it, and they like helping out.”

One of the many community events that the Stinson’s are involved in is the annual Chili Cook Off.

The Chili Cook-off involves about 40 chili cookers, that awards the winning chili a trophy.

The event’s proceeds go to three local charities: Bridge to Home, Lark Ranch, and Help the Children, said Kirk.

They try to run the entire event at little to no cost in order to donate as much as possible, said Nicole. The next Chili Cook-off is scheduled for March 20th at the Hyatt in Valencia.

“It takes a year to fully plan it,” Nicole said. “Every year is like creating an entirely new event.”

Taste of the Town is another event that the couple has helped out with.

“We’ve worked on this event three or four times,” Nicole said. “We help them collect auction items that they auction off, It helps the child and family center which we love.”
