UPDATE: Accident Victim Identified In Sunday Soledad Canyon Crash

The person killed in a traffic accident Sunday morning has been identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office. Lt. Fred Corral said that Eric Michael Gilhooley, a 15-year old resident of Canyon Country died at the scene of the crash.

At 10:22 a.m. Sunday, a vehicle traveling westbound on Soledad Canyon Road struck a curb and overturned, killing Gilhooley. The accident occured near the intersection of Soledad Canyon Road and Gailxy Avenue, west of Sand Canyon Road.

Westbound Soledad Canyon Road was closed for several hours to facilitate the accident investigation Sunday morning and afternoon.

Investigators determined that Gilhooley was standing on the curb on Soledad Canyon Road when he was struck by the car driven by a 47-year old Canyon Country man. The driver was treated for minor injuries and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
