Kidnapping suspect turns himself in at sheriff's station Sunday night.

[view:node_ad=5] A 22-year old man suspected of attempting to kidnap his ex-girlfriend Sunday afternoon turned himself in to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's station at about 10 p.m. Sunday night.

Newhall resident Salvador Rodriguez is being held on suspicion of a felony, attempted kidnapping, in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is due to appear in court tomorrow.

The attempted kidnapping occurred shortly after 3 p.m. near the
7-Eleven
Store at Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road.  According to Lt. Tom
Bryskie of the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station, the suspect tried to
drag a former girlfriend into his truck, but she resisted and he fled
the scene.

Deputies scoured the area, instructing air units to search the wash and bed of the Santa Clara River.

After waiting for the suspect to return to the
truck to no avail, deputies confiscated the vehicle and towed it to an undisclosed
location.

Around 4 p.m., deputies surrounded an apartment on Via Estrella in the Valle De
Oro complex in Newhall after the victim reported that Rodriguez was inside, threatening to kill himself with a gun. After it was detemined that the suspect was not in the apartment, the containment was broken down about two hours later.
