Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide officials have confirmed that a body was found Saturday morning off of Interstate 5 near Templin Highway, just north of Santa Clarita.

According to Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter, the unidentified man was found “bound and burning.”

Detectives have opened an investigation and are working to identify the body, which was badly burned. So far, the coroner can confirm that the body was an adult male, and they estimate that the man was between 16 and 26 years old.

The victim is being considered a John Doe, and a search of missing persons records has not yielded any matches.

No additional information was immediately available, as detectives are waiting for the coroner’s report.
