An arrest has been made in the stabbing death of a 34-year old transient near a homeless encampment in the wash near Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road.
Julian Gonzales, 40, of Canyon Country, was arrested Tuesday morning and has been booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Gonzales is accused of stabbing a 34-year old male Hispanic shortly after 8 p.m. Monday night near an area of the Santa Clara River south of Soledad Canyon Road that is frequented by transients.
Lt. Dave Dolson of Sheriff’s Homicide Division said that an altercation occurred between the two men and Gonzales allegedly stabbed him.
The victim was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he died of his wounds.
Dolson said that Gonzales is being held without bail on a parole violation. Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation of the incident.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
