UPDATED: Barricaded Suspect In Castaic

Special Weapons teams have concluded their operation in Castaic, taking into custody a 23-year old man who had been barricaded in a house on the 25000 block of Zion Court since 7:30 a.m.

Zion Court, Olympic and Hillcrest Parkway are now open.

Christopher Marchetti will be booked on suspicion of residential burglary, with the possible addition of charges related to the barricade situation.

According to Sgt. Richard Nagler of the Santa Clarita Valley station, Marchetti is a suspect in a burglary that occurred Monday in Canyon Country. Among other items, he is suspected of having taken a handgun, which he had with him Wednesday morning when deputies went to the house to talk with him.

Marchetti was at his mother’s home on Zion Court when deputies approached. His mother was safetly taken from the home and he kept officers at bay for approximately four hours until he surrendered peacefully.

The home burglarized Monday is one in Canyon Country where Marchetti had been staying.

Deputies evacuated Zion Court and a few houses on Olympic which are close by the suspect’s location. In addition, Hillcrest Drive was blocked off. The sheriff’s department established a command post at the Ralph’s center at Hasley Canyon Road and The Old Road.
