Coroner’s officials released the identity of the man found Sunday afternoon alongside the road in the Hungry Valley Recreational Area.
Fidel Cisneros, 46, died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Coroner’s office.
Lt. Don Slawson of Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau said that detectives were able to identify the man on Monday afternoon, but did not immediately releasing his identity pending notification of next of kin. He said that Cisneros was a Southern California resident, but not from the Santa Clarita Valley.
Cisneros’ body was found Sunday around 2:45 p.m. Slawson said that it appeared that he was killed elsewhere.
“I can guarantee that he did not die of natural causes,” said Slawson.
